El uso continuo de estatinas en pacientes con apnea obstructiva del sueño (AOS) e hipertensión aumenta el riesgo de diabetes, según datos publicados en Diabetology and Metabolic Syndrome.En estudios recientes, las estatinas han mostrado un posible aumento del riesgo de diabetes, según los autores del presente artículo. Sin embargo, existen datos que sugieren una posible disminución. Les comparto este estudio en el que los investigadores realizaron una investigación longitudinal para determinar la asociación entre el uso de estatinas y la aparición de diabetes en pacientes con hipertensión y AOS.

Continuous statin use in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and hypertension increases the risk of diabetes, according to data published in Diabetology and Metabolic Syndrome. In recent studies, statins have shown a possible increased risk of diabetes, according to the authors of this article. However, there are data suggesting a possible decrease.
