Almost 130 participants gathered at the V Journey of Pathology of the Voice, organized in Marbella by the Otorhinolaryngology service of Quirónsalud Hospitals Marbella and Campo de Gibraltar.

For two days specialists in otolaryngology, phoniatrics and speech therapy will present the most current lines in the field of research and clinical intervention and the aesthetics of the voice. The organizer and co-head of the Otorhinolaryngology Service of the Hospital Quirónsalud Marbella and Campo de Gibraltar, Dr. Juan Carlos Casado; the managing director of the Hospital Quirónsalud Marbella, Dr. Antonio Feria; the dean of the Faculty of Psychology and Speech Therapy at the University of Málaga, Rosa Estévez; and the dean of the Official College of Logopedas of Andalusia, Carmina Martín.
During these two days will be 18 speakers, 51 otorrinos, 28 speech therapists and 47 students from the Faculty of Speech Therapy at the University of Malaga. It focuses on the otorhinolaryngological intervention and speech therapy in the professional voice from two points of view: having an eminently practical and open mentality when dealing with the advances that have been produced in the diagnosis and treatment of voice pathology; and get to involve in a multidisciplinary way the different professionals that participate in the study of the voice.
This year, the conferences have been divided into two blocks, responding to requests arising from the satisfaction surveys of previous editions. The first block is dedicated to the assessment of the voice, both from the point of view logopédico and otorhinolaryngological, including practical workshops of speech therapy, round table phonosurgery and the current management of dysphagia. In the second block, the feminization of the voice in transgender women is dealt with in depth, emphasizing the need for a collaboration between the otolaryngologist and the speech therapist, also taking into account the masculinization of the voice.
The doctors Juan Carlos Casado and Carlos O'Connor, heads of the services of Otorhinolaryngology of the Hospitals Quirónsalud Marbella and Quirónsalud Campo de Gibraltar and directors of this day, have highlighted the relevance of this V Conference that has the scientific endorsement of the Society Spanish Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery, the University of Malaga and the Official College of Speech Therapists of Andalusia.
