Cada vez hay más evidencia que sugiere que la AOS también se asocia con un amplio espectro de afecciones oculares, que afectan a casi todas las estructuras anatómicas del ojo, desde los párpados y la superficie ocular hasta la retina y el nervio óptico. Estas asociaciones se deben principalmente a la hipoxia intermitente, el estrés oxidativo, la inflamación y la desregulación vascular. Esta revisión narrativa resume la evidencia actual sobre las afecciones oculares asociadas con la apnea obstructiva del sueño.

There is growing evidence suggesting that OSA is also associated with a wide range of ocular conditions, affecting almost all anatomical structures of the eye, from the eyelids and ocular surface to the retina and optic nerve. These associations are primarily due to intermittent hypoxia, oxidative stress, inflammation, and vascular dysregulation. This narrative review summarizes the current evidence on ocular conditions associated with obstructive sleep apnea.
