La apnea obstructiva del sueño (AOS) en la infancia es un problema de salud importante con posibles efectos adversos en el funcionamiento diurno, el comportamiento, la educación y el desarrollo general. La intervención temprana es crucial para mitigar estas consecuencias. La terapia miofuncional (TM) se ha consolidado como una modalidad de tratamiento, especialmente en niños pequeños, para abordar la AOS. Esto subraya la importancia de la detección e intervención tempranas por parte de odontopediatras y otros profesionales de la salud que interactúan frecuentemente con las estructuras orales y faciales pediátricas. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo investigar el conocimiento, las actitudes y las prácticas de los odontopediatras libaneses con respecto a la AOS pediátrica y la TM.

Obstructive apnea of the child (OSA) in childhood is an important health problem with possible adverse effects on daytime operation, behavior, education and general distress. Temporary intervention is crucial to mitigate these consequences. The functional therapy (TM) has been consolidated as a treatment modality, especially for small children, to address OSA. This includes the importance of early detection and intervention by odontopediatras and other health professionals who frequently interact with pediatric oral and facial structures.
