Inflammatory markers such as protein present in patients with OSA

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is increasingly recognized as a chronic disease associated with mild systemic inflammation. Elevated levels of inflammatory markers such as C-reactive protein (CRP), fibrinogen, TNF-α, and IL-6 have been observed in patients with OSA, regardless of obesity. Tobacco use, a known proinflammatory factor, may further exacerbate this burden. This study aimed to evaluate whether smoking influences inflammatory markers and OSA severity in newly diagnosed patients.
