Current knowledge on the long-term implications of ankyloglossia

This video describes the current understanding of the long-term implications of ankyloglossia. Ankyloglossia disrupts normal tongue motility and alters the balance of muscular forces forming the orofacial complex. Following a literature review of the relationship between ankyloglossia and sleep-disordered breathing using Medline, Google Scholar, and Embase databases, a three-dimensional (3D) video was designed and created using Adobe After Effects based on the anatomical and functional changes produced by repeated swallowing, with and without ankyloglossia, from childhood to adulthood. This is a very interesting medium for further exploring the subject of ankyloglossia.
