Una sola noche en el laboratorio o un estudio domiciliario convencional nos ofrece solo una \u00abfoto fija\u00bb de una patolog\u00eda que es, por naturaleza, din\u00e1mica. Un reciente e importante estudio cl\u00ednico publicado en la revista Sleep confirma una sospecha: la variabilidad noche a noche en la gravedad de la Apnea Obstructiva del Sue\u00f1o (AOS) es un factor de riesgo cardiovascular independiente y cr\u00edtico. El estudio, que analiz\u00f3 datos de m\u00e1s de 3,000 pacientes utilizando sensores continuos durante seis meses, revela una conclusi\u00f3n que obliga a repensar los criterios diagn\u00f3sticos: Los pacientes con una alta variabilidad noche a noche en su \u00cdndice de Apnea-Hipopnea (IAH) tienen un 34% m\u00e1s de probabilidades de sufrir eventos cardiovasculares o cerebrovasculares mayores no fatales (como infartos de miocardio, ictus o insuficiencia card\u00edaca), independientemente de la gravedad media de su apnea y de otros factores de confusi\u00f3n. La Medicina del Sue\u00f1o de precisi\u00f3n ya no puede conformarse con datos aislados. Identificar estos fenotipos variables permitir\u00e1 personalizar los tratamientos y, lo m\u00e1s importante, adelantarse a un evento cardiovascular mayor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
