El jefe de Secci\u00f3n de Neumolog\u00eda del Hospital Universitario La Paz, Francisco Garc\u00eda R\u00edo, afirm\u00f3 que la apnea obstructiva del sue\u00f1o incrementa el riesgo de c\u00e1ncer, su agresividad y la mortalidad asociada, debido al deterioro del sistema inmunol\u00f3gico causado por la hipoxia intermitente durante el sue\u00f1o. Durante la XXXIV Reuni\u00f3n Anual de la Sociedad Espa\u00f1ola de Sue\u00f1o (SES), que reuni\u00f3 a m\u00e1s de 300 expertos, Garc\u00eda R\u00edo explic\u00f3 que las ca\u00eddas repetidas de ox\u00edgeno en sangre propias de la apnea afectan tanto al sistema inmune innato como al adaptativo, reduciendo su capacidad para detectar y eliminar c\u00e9lulas tumorales.

Francisco Garc\u00eda R\u00edo, Head of the Pulmonology Section at La Paz University Hospital, stated that obstructive sleep apnea increases the risk of cancer, its aggressiveness, and associated mortality, due to the impairment of the immune system caused by intermittent hypoxia during sleep. During the 34th Annual Meeting of the Spanish Sleep Society (SES)\u2014which brought together more than 300 experts\u2014Garc\u00eda R\u00edo explained that the repeated drops in blood oxygen characteristic of apnea affect both the innate and adaptive immune systems, reducing their capacity to detect and eliminate tumor cells.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
