Durante a\u00f1os, la apnea obstructiva del sue\u00f1o fue considerada un trastorno que afectaba principalmente a hombres mayores y con sobrepeso. Sin embargo, investigaciones recientes advierten que millones de mujeres tambi\u00e9n la padecen, aunque muchas veces no son diagnosticadas debido a que los s\u00edntomas suelen manifestarse de forma distinta. En las mujeres, especialmente durante la perimenopausia y la menopausia, el riesgo aumenta debido a cambios hormonales. Estudios indican que las mujeres posmenop\u00e1usicas tienen hasta un 57% m\u00e1s probabilidades de presentar s\u00edntomas de apnea que aquellas que a\u00fan no atravesaron esa etapa.

For years, obstructive sleep apnea was considered a disorder that primarily affected older, overweight men. However, recent research indicates that millions of women also suffer from it, although they often go undiagnosed because the symptoms tend to manifest differently. In women, especially during perimenopause and menopause, the risk increases due to hormonal changes. Studies indicate that postmenopausal women are up to 57% more likely to experience apnea symptoms than those who have not yet gone through menopause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
