La Sociedad Americana de Anestesiolog\u00eda (ASA) como la Sociedad de Anestesia y Medicina del Sue\u00f1o (SASM) han publicado directrices para el cuidado perioperatorio del paciente con AOS. Estas directrices se publicaron en 2014 y 2016, respectivamente. Si bien constituyen un excelente recurso para el manejo perioperatorio del paciente con AOS, el creciente n\u00famero de pacientes obesos con AOS que se someten a procedimientos ambulatorios pone en duda la viabilidad de algunas de estas recomendaciones en 2024. Esta revisi\u00f3n destaca las recomendaciones actuales, as\u00ed como los desaf\u00edos en el cuidado del paciente con AOS en el \u00e1mbito perioperatorio.

The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) and the Society of Anesthesia and Sleep Medicine (SASM) have published guidelines for the perioperative care of patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). These guidelines were published in 2014 and 2016, respectively. While they constitute an excellent resource for the perioperative management of patients with OSA, the increasing number of obese patients with OSA undergoing outpatient procedures raises questions about the viability of some of these recommendations in 2024. This review highlights current recommendations as well as challenges in the perioperative care of patients with OSA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
