La apnea obstructiva del sue\u00f1o (AOS) se asocia con numerosas afecciones, como la demencia y la mortalidad precoz. Los estudios epidemiol\u00f3gicos previos que vinculan la AOS con la enfermedad de Parkinson (EP) son contradictorios, y ning\u00fan estudio ha examinado la influencia de la presi\u00f3n positiva continua en las v\u00edas respiratorias (CPAP), el tratamiento est\u00e1ndar para la AOS, en el riesgo de EP. El presente estudio busca examinar la asociaci\u00f3n entre la AOS y la incidencia de enfermedad de Parkinson en veteranos estadounidenses y la modificaci\u00f3n del riesgo mediante CPAP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is associated with numerous conditions, including dementia and premature mortality. Previous epidemiological studies linking OSA to Parkinson’s disease (PD) are conflicting, and no study has examined the influence of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), the standard treatment for OSA, on PD risk. The present study aims to examine the association between OSA and the incidence of Parkinson’s disease in US veterans and the modification of risk by CPAP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
