La apnea obstructiva del sue\u00f1o provoca una reducci\u00f3n intermitente del ox\u00edgeno en sangre y alteraciones en la presi\u00f3n arterial, dos factores que, combinados, afectan la circulaci\u00f3n en estructuras oculares clave como el nervio \u00f3ptico y la retina. El especialista se\u00f1ala que estos cambios fisiol\u00f3gicos pueden fomentar el da\u00f1o ocular progresivo, incluso en personas sin antecedentes oftalmol\u00f3gicos previos.

According to ophthalmologist Fernando L\u00f3pez, a specialist at the Miranza G\u00f3mez-Ulla Institute, sleep apnea could play a significant role in the development of eye diseases such as glaucoma. Obstructive sleep apnea causes an intermittent reduction in blood oxygen and changes in blood pressure, two factors that, when combined, affect circulation in key ocular structures such as the optic nerve and retina. The specialist points out that these physiological changes can promote progressive eye damage, even in people with no prior ophthalmological history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
